Description

Anvari adore luxury and haggling between buyer and seller is elevated to an art form in Anvari marketplaces. It is not uncommon to see a Anvari clad in scintillating fabrics and adorned with trinkets of gold and silver. However, no amount of riches can purchase a Anvari family’s true treasure: its daughters. Anvari treat young women as jewels beyond price, because they give rise to the next generation. Thus, Anvari fathers, brothers, and husbands indulge them in every way. Anvari decadence extends to other aspects of life as well; many Anvari think nothing of spending chests of gold to purchase the finest teas, carpets, and especially horses.

Wealthy Anvari obsess over horse breeding and racing, and scour Erin to find the perfect sires for their stables, justifying the sterling reputation of the Anvari warhorse. This appreciation for horsemanship shows in Keleshite warfare as well. The sight of Anvari light cavalry and mounted archers galloping across the battlefield often frustrates their foreign enemies, who believe the hit-and-run tactics of the Anvari to be cowardly.

The Anvari do not regard such actions as cowardice, but rather as well considered tactics separating them from their boorish enemies. They are also quick to point out the obvious advantages of light armor and weaponry when fighting in a hot climate. The Anvari navy mimics this form of combat, preferring light, nimble ships over heavily armed, clumsy vessels.

The proud dervishes are the Anvari's most iconic warriors. Fanatical warriors dedicated to Eyvra, they twirl about the battlefield, rending and ripping their foes with razor-edged scimitars. These dervishes wear long, colorful kilts or skirts that distract their foes and distort their forms, allowing them to make quick work of heavily armored rivals as they perform their grim dance of blood and steel. Wherever Anvari people live, dervishes live among them in positions of honor; they receive deferential treatment in Anvari lands.

Traits

The following Traits are available for Anvari

Commanding: Your family taught you that you always deserve respect. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks. Add a +1 trait bonus to the save DC of any language-dependent compulsion spells you cast.

Genie Blood (Anvari): One of your ancestors was genie-kind. Select an element (air, earth, fire, or water). You gain a +1 trait bonus on saving throws against attacks that utilize that element (cold for air, acid for earth, fire for fire, and electricity for water), and gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks made against creatures of that subtype.

Market Rat (Anvari): You spent your youth amid the varied market stalls and mercantile leagues across Erin. Perhaps you came from a family of merchants, or you dwelt amid the many booths of a market, begging to survive. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Appraise and Knowledge (local) checks.

Horse Lord (Anvari): You grew up racing along the D’kalkaya fields, hoping to one day compete in the derbies the nation has occasionally. You gain a +2 trait bonus on Handle Animal checks, and a +1 trait bonus on Ride checks. This trait applies only to horses.

Pride of the Empire (Anvari): Your pride is so strong and your confidence so sure that you can shake off magical attempts to shatter your resolve. If you succeed at a Will saving throw against a fear effect that would result in a lesser effect on a successful save (such as causing you to become shaken instead of panicked), you are instead unaffected.

Tempestuous Combatant: You move confidently in the face of danger. Once per day as a swift action, you can choose one opponent. You and your mount (if any) do not provoke attacks of opportunity from that opponent for moving within or exiting his threatened area.

Thoroughbred (Anvari): The blood of the early horse tribes is strong in your family. Breeding, riding, selecting, and training the best horses are all part of your legacy, and you know how to pick out the best of the lot when selecting a suitable mount. If you gain a horse as an animal companion or mount as one of your class abilities, its base speed increases by 5 feet and it gains a bonus trick that does not count against the normal limit of tricks known by the animal.
