Biography
Kai Shen was raised in the Shimatori greenlands and was the son of a blacksmith and a jade vendor. At the age of 18, he joined the Amihama militia and was posted in the Taizou expanse. Shortly after that, he was tested as Hobgoblins started to encroach the grasslands, pillaging, killing and taking slaves within the countryside. His unit was called in to investigate and attempt to eliminate the threat. It was here where he became a well-known hero and one of his stories that, till this day, is spoken of. His outpost was overwhelmed by hobgoblin forces and had it fallen. Thousands of lives would have been lost before the hobgoblins would have been re-routed. Kai Shen had lost all his sergeants and corporals during a initial strike by them. He took command of what little men where left and held it using siege weapons, improvised alchemist's fire and anything they could get a hold of. The outpost would have fallen but his determination to hold his ground bought the fort time for reinforcements from a nearby base to arrive, re-routing the hobgoblin forces and saving thousands of lives.
It wasn't until the age of 23 that he was tested again. A large dragon that came from the far south was in Amihama terrorizing the land and Kai was sent with a unit of 10 men to kill it. However, the dragon was clever and prepared an ambush for them. After a long battle he managed to grab the dragons mouth and force pulled it open until he snapped the jaw right out of the dragon, killing it. Three men survived to tell the tale of his valor and his name was known as Kai Shen the dragon lord.
When the old emperor died Kai Shen was selected to be emperor and even though no one challenged him for the rights, he still called for a Celestial Tournament, in which he defeated 16 men to the death and became emperor of Amihama.
Personality
Kai Shen is a natural-born leader. He is rarely alone, and in battle often spends much of his time directing his troops. He takes individuals at face value and treats them with respect until their actions prove that they should be dealt with otherwise.
Appearance
Kai is a mountain of a man. He is your typical manly man. He is built with huge bulging muscles and has battle scars that are a badge of honor. His horns are thick and large, with the ends sharpened to a fine point. He tends to dress in comfortable clothes that allow him to move freely in them. He tends to tower over most other men and Rai. Kai has a dark complexion from years in the sun out in the grounds training. His appearance can be powerful and strikes fear in those that meet him.
Politics and Beliefs
Kai Shen respects other nations but does not feel obliged to them, and tries to maintain neutral grounds with them. He also believes that in Calari any that oppose his men there will be dealt with swiftly regardless of relations back west. He tends to be a bit more amiable towards the people of Kyan having some similarities in culture and even speaking the same language.
