Economy

Mriyah is a large exporter of exotic plants only native to the deserts of Maj'Dul which are mostly used for medicinal value. They also are known for their diamond and gold trade. These trades also stimulate the economy of the city in other ways as there are quite a number of professional escort services the merchants tend to hire for protection of their trade goods.

Government

Being the Capital city, all of the courts are within the city along with the sultan himself:

1. The Court of Blades The court's main responsibility is for the protection of Maj'Dul and its people from creatures of the land, invading forces, and any other threat within the Kingdom. They make sure armies are maintained, soldiers are trained and that any new military technology that may arise becomes common in the lands of Maj'Dul also.

2. The Court of Coin The main responsibility for The Court of Coin is to manage the kingdom's finances. This includes merchants transactions, banking, trading, and gambling. They are responsible for monitoring the economy of Maj'Dul and overseeing that international trades are being done fairly to their people and vice versa. These are men and women who you do not wish to be on the bad side of. Money might pay for many things, but not happiness, and it certainly can't bring you back from the dead.

3. The Court of Truth The main goal of the Court of Truth is to make sure that traditions are kept, people are educated and that new discoveries are learned and taught to the people of Maj'Dul. The Court of Truth is the most respected of the three courts due to their policy "No truth covered" no matter how grim a section of history or an event might be. They do their best to make sure that it is documented properly in history.

4. The Sultan The Sultan himself has very limited powers; however, one of his jobs is to ensure that there is no corruption within the courts, and his own court is responsible for appointing political leaders throughout the land, and handle political affairs in and outside of the Kingdom of Maj'Dul with the support of the three courts.

Outsiders view the government system that Maj'Dul has as corrupt or over-controlling. That is usually up to individuals how they see this, whether or not its true. Their government seems to work regardless.

Geography

The city of Mriyah is on the north-east region of Maj'Dul, only a few miles from the ocean and other bodies of water, including a few rivers which is one of the main reasons the city has flourished so well due to having a near infinite source of water from the life giving rivers. Outside of the city itself one can see irrigation systems where some crops are grown along with feed for the livestock. The city has managed to build a great wall around itself made of bricks that where made from the sand itself and reinforced with natural stone. The city only has one known gate to enter the city known as the Sun gates though some also refer to them as the river gates due to people having to cross a large bridge which is part of a canal system made to enter the city.

History

The city of Mriyah was originally a small community that bred livestock along with feed for them; however, as more opportunities started to arise, the community grew bigger over the years due to becoming a trade hub for all of the desert. It was only natural that it became the capital of Maj'Dul. Once trade became more common with other cultures from the world this only expanded the city even further becoming the most important city in Maj'Dul.

Inhabitants

Mriyah is mostly an all human city composed of Anvari and a few Caldarian though rare, other races living in the city is not totally unheard of. The people of Mriyah are typically friendly towards outsiders and treat them with respect there are however certain areas of the city that it's not wise to wander off too if you are visiting.

Religion

The City worships Kamus and Eyvra and have temples for each of them at opposite points of the city almost creating a triangle like pattern within it. This was intentionally done so that there is some sort of equality among the temples themselves and due to the residential districts being mostly at the center of the city and this invisible triangle, the citizens can travel more easily to and from the temples of their choosing. Other religions exist in the city of Mriyah and other types of religion are tolerated however there are no open temples for any other gods in the city.
