Two Weapon Fighting

Two-Weapon Fighting (Combat)

You can fight with a weapon wielded in each of your hands. You can make one extra attack each round with the secondary weapon.

Prerequisite: Dex 15.

Benefit: Your penalties on attack rolls for fighting with two weapons are reduced. The penalty for your primary hand lessens by 2 and the one for your off hand lessens by 6. See Two-Weapon Fighting.

Normal: If you wield a second weapon in your off hand, you can get one extra attack per round with that weapon. When fighting in this way you suffer a –6 penalty with your regular attack or attacks with your primary hand and a –10 penalty to the attack with your off hand. If your off-hand weapon is light, the penalties are reduced by 2 each. An unarmed strike is always considered light.

Table: Two-Weapon Fighting Penalties

Circumstances Primary Hand Off Hand
Normal penalties –6 –10
Off-hand weapon is light –4 –8
Two-Weapon Fighting feat –4 –4
Off-hand weapon is light and Two-Weapon Fighting feat –2 –2

More clarification (This is assuming your offhand is light)

This can confuse people a lot to the point of not even wanting to use this feat so I will clarify since is not really explained in a easy to understand way.

lets way your attack bonus is +6/+1
if you take two weapon fighting is +4/+4/-1
The bold is the extra attack.

Now if you take improved two weapon fighting it would be as such

now for the sake of argument lets say your bab is +11/+6/+1 and you take greater two weapon fighting

Your attack would be this

+9/+4/-1 main hand and offhands would be +9/+4/-1

How it works with no interactive attack rules/ Xilrin

Is a little easier cause the math is crunched down, so lets if you have the two weapon fighting feat, you just roll your attack at -2 and if hit you hit with both weapons. If you have improved two weapon fighting you take a -7 penalty, and if you score two hits as per the ac rules you hit with your offhand weapons twice for a total of four hits. If you have greater two weapon fighting, you roll at a -12 penalty and if you hit three times your offhand hits 3 times for a total of 6 hits.

How to calculate penalties

No matter what you will always have a -2 penalty and it stacks with the other penalties, making it -7 and -12.

For example, if your Attack bonus if 11, just subtract 7 off it to use improved and 12 to use greater.

Hope this clarifies it a little.
